What fragrance/cologne do you put on when it's your night out?
Submitted by noiq.
Ok, so I haven't done one of these in a long while, but here's my answer anyway:
I don't ever spritz anything on me. Seems like a useless commodity. Although I will say that sometimes, I smell like lemons, because i have dry skin and I use citrus oil instead of lotion. And sometimes, I smell like flowers, because of soap. And most times, I probably smell like cigarettes.
A boy once told me that I usually smell "Asian." I really don't know what that means.
What is the best beer on planet Earth?
Submitted by Remmy Van Hornie.
Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Hands down.
Coming in a close second is Arrogant Bastard, and Anchor Steam... though Anchor Steam gets really bubbly.
Who would you trust with your life?
Sadly enough, no one.
What time is your alarm clock set for? Do you use the snooze button?
5:25am. I snooze twice
Have you been affected by the pet food recall? Has it changed the way you feed your pets?
No... I didn't even know that there was a recall... However, behind the building where I work is a cat and dog food plant. Usually on hotter days it smells like rancid pussy outside. But I did notice today that wasn't the case, and it's boiling. Maybe they were affected. Makes sense to me.
If you could pick a cartoon world to live in, which would it be? Why?
Submitted by Scio, Scio.
Um... the one I feature myself in!! It's not in technicolor, though... yet...
But if you're talking about like actual cartoon cartoon, probably some anime, cuz I'm Asian. And I have big boobs. And I have technicolor hair.
Shut up.
I've been described as a real-life cartoon anyway.
What words, for the life of you, can you never spell correctly?
Submitted by Byrne.
Definately.
Is it likely that the U.S. will have a female president in the near future? In your lifetime? Why?
Near future: Not likely. If anyone I'd much rather see Barbara Boxer in the running over Hillary Clinton.
In my lifetime: Well, I've at least got another... oh... maybe 30-40 years to live? (considering the way I lead my lifestyle) Let's say 40, so it's easier for my brain to do math. That's 10 more elections. I think it's a possibility.
Have you ever had plastic or elective surgery? Did you tell anyone? Why or why not?
Submitted by Beth Punches.
No, and no, because I've never had a reason until now to tell people that I've never had plastic or elective surgery. Thanks.
Also, as a side note, getting a total of 6 hours of sleep over the course of 3 days simply ain't kosher.
What are the 10 most memorable music performances you've seen? (Remember, "memorable" may not be good.)
Submitted by Bill.
Wow, there are so many shows that I've been to, it's hard to pick a top 10, but I'll try. [EDIT: I'll wrote them all out from most memorable and worked my way down, but I changed the order from earliest date to most recent]
1. Any show I've ever been to in Simi Valley, CA from 1997 to present. I HATE SIMI VALLEY. Every single time I ever go to a show in Simi Valley, something always happens where I almost die. Last year, I went to see my friends' bands Imbrue, Inside These Walls, and Ethakis. There was a car bumper that was just rolling across the freeway, and I had to swerve to miss it. 2 years ago, I went to see a band called Better Luck Next Time, I nearly got run over by a Hummer. 4 years ago, I saw American Head Charge, almost got crushed by a 6'4" 300 pound man (not Lonnie). He fell over. 8 years ago, I saw Nothingface, and a band called Pariah. My cousin was driving, and the wind was blowing so hard, it picked up her car and dropped it into the next lane.
2. The Bouncing Souls/Bad Religion, 1998, at the House of Blues in Anaheim. At the tender age of 13, this was the first show I went to that I actually went into a mosh pit. One of the first shows that I went to that perpetuated my concert whorish ways. I don't remember much else, but after this show, I've seen Bad Religion 5 more times, and the Bouncing Souls 3 more times. This does not include Warped Tours.
3. Warped Tour 1998. If memory serves correctly, it was at Cal State Fullerton. Speaking of Warped Tour, Summertime in Orange County gets really really dry, but on this year, it rained, which was a really odd phenomenon. The mixture of the dry dirt and sudden downpour of water made it so that everything was all muddy and slippery. It was like one giant mudfight. Try moshing in that stuff, dude. It's a LOT of fun.
4. No Use For A Name/Lagwagon, 1999, at Chain Reaction. Met my friend Joshua for the first time there. Someone bumped into me, bumping me into him. He didn't know that someone else had hit me, so we started arguing and traded really scathing insults. We've been friends ever since.
5. Against Me!, 2000, at the Roxy. The first time I saw a show at the Roxy. The first time I saw Against Me!. The first date with my ex Travis, who passed away in February. It was kind of cute. A very drunk guy started hitting on me very aggressively after the show, and Travis got into a fight with him. It sucked that there was a fight, but looking back on it, I remember it fondly. It was a good show too.
6. 48 Mananas/Let Live/Idle/Oedipus, 2001, at Studio 56. All local bands that suck now for various reasons. Actually, they probably sucked back then too. There are a few reasons why this show was interesting/memorable. [Note--if you're thinking about the movie with Ryan Philippe, that's Studio 54]. Studio 56 is a warehouse, not a club, not a venue. There was a makeshift stage made out of wood, covered with a spare piece of carpet, two couches, and a "bar" that consisted of a table with wheels, and like 50 different liquors, and 2 mini fridges, one filled with beer, the other filled with mixers. It was probably an abandoned warehouse where a bunch of punk kids just kinda took over for a night, because this place was tucked away in an alley in the seediest part of Hollywood. I walked up to the door, and the doorman/bouncer/whatever asked me if I was going to drink. I said "No, I'm not 21." He responded with "Do you want to?" Which, naturally caught me off guard and I said "Uh, sure," after which he stamped my wrist. I had my very first drink that night. I was 17. It was a screwdriver.
7. The Ataris/Thrice, 2002, at Chain Reaction. This was the very first time I saw Thrice live. I had a friend of a friend who's older brother went to high school with them, which is how I heard about them in the first place. For a number of years, Thrice was on that "favorite band" list. I just remember this show being a lot of fun, and I actually hung out with the guys from both bands for a bit. It's always great when bands are really sincere and nice people, which is exactly what I can for both the guys from the Ataris and Thrice. And it was cool, because I had a huge crush on Kris Roe (the Ataris), heh heh.
8. Strung Out/Rise Against/Snapcase/and a couple of other bands I forget the name of, 2002, at Chain Reaction. I had originally went to this show, pretty much just for Strung Out and Snapcase; but I really liked 88 Fingers Louis in jr high and high school, and the only thing I really knew about Rise Against at the time was that it was Joe Principe's (however you spell it) new band. This was the very first time I had seen Rise Against live, and the exact show where I fell out of love with Kris Roe (from the Ataris), and fell head over heels for Tim McIlrath. So all in all: Favorite venue at the time + Strung Out--one of my favorite bands at the time + my introduction to Rise Against via face meltage + seeing for the first time the beautiful specimen of man that Tim McIlrath is = multiple orgasms. It makes me a little sad though, because nowadays, I can't think of Rise Against without thinking of scene kids.
9. AFI, 2003, at University of California San Diego. Okay, this is going to be a long one. I went with my friends Lonnie, Sal, Sal's-girlfriend-at-the-time Jocelyn, and my boyfriend-at-the-time Jerry. This was before I had a car, Jerry's car was a piece of shit that overheated every 15 minutes, Lonnie's car had been stolen, and Sal still doesn't have a car. Jocelyn, had a 2002 Toyota Celica. Now, this is where I mention that Lonnie is 6'4" and well over 250 pounds. Sal is 6'2" and close to 200 pounds. Jerry is 5'10, and thin as a rail. Which leaves me and Jocelyn. 1-2-3-4-5 people--two of them being giants in a 2002 Toyota Celica, that's supposed to only fit 4 normal sized people. San Diego is 2 hours away from Los Angeles. That was a joyous ride.
Apart from that though, the show was fantastic. This was right after Sing the Sorrow came out, and right after I got past the "it sounds different, therefore it sucks" phase of listening to the album, and grew to love it. And as an added bonus, they played "Hearts Frozen Solid, Thawed Once More by the Spring of Rage, Despair, and Hopelessness" (I shoulda posted that song for that one Vox Hunt with the weird title). It's the 30 second song that was on the "Short Music For Short People" comp. Good times.
10. Warped Tour 2003, at Cal State Fullerton. This is an amusing story. I went with Lonnie and one of his friends. We ended up getting separated, but what makes this show so memorable was, that I had wanted to see Bad Religion play, but I misread the poster, and went to the right stage at the wrong time. I thought I knew I was where I needed to be when I looked around and saw a couple of people wearing Bad Religion shirts, and I overheard a conversation near me where they were talking about Bad Religion. I first thought that something was amiss when this scene girl next to me started crying because where we were standing was right where the mosh pit area usually is. She actually turned to me and asked "Is this where the mosh pit is? Aren't you scared?" I just cocked an eyebrow at her. Then the band started setting up, and I immediately knew something was wrong. But I figured I'd stay where I was, just to check out who they were. When they announced that they were the Early November, the thought that went through my mind was "fuck, I gotta get out of here." Then they started playing, and the crowd started huddling, and I was swimming through a sea of people in order prevent my ears from getting AIDS.
I realize I haven't talked about any recent shows--not to say that they weren't good or anything, but with over 150 concerts under my belt, the firsts are always the most memorable. I could go on about other more recent ones, but this is long enough as is :)
